Dance for Pride - Breaking the stereotypes, SCRUFF Presents; Organised by Those in Need

LGBTQ community is still struggling in India, awaiting the social and constitutional justice that it deserves. Amidst this, the community is tagged with many stereotypes that demean and degrade their existence. Dance for pride - breaking the stereotypes is an attempt to make a bold statement against all these stereotypes and perform with pride.

For the first time, LGBTQ community is coming together to dance on the indigenous beats of Dhol - a unique way in itself to put the thought forward and educate the society in general. The event will be held at Hauz Khas Village and will start with a freeze mob followed by a powerful dance.

The event is presented by SCRUFF - a popular gay dating, travelling and social networking application. Despite the fact that SCRUFF primarily caters to men, the flashmob has been kept inclusive of whomsoever want to be a part of it since solidarity to struggles and equality of struggles is very well understood. SCRUFF has also sponsored Jaipur and Chandigarh pride in the past and has partnered with multiple LGBTQ events like that of Kashish, Queer Carnival, DIQTFF and more.

Dance for Pride is organised by Those in Need  which is a Not-For-Profit initiative of Lending Hands Foundation – which aims at bringing a strong base for volunteer support by civil society engagement, organizing resources to support an effective response, promoting community development and to work for the welfare of the society.  Those In Need provides a common platform to various NGOs, societies, volunteers, educational institutions and corporates to establish a network to maximise the impact of their philanthropic efforts.

"We are overwhelmed with the response that we have got from the participants! We expect an inclusive acceptance from the society and applaud the ones who have joined hands with us for this event. Breaking the stereotypes and making this a better place for all of us to live is the aim we wish to accomplish. - Abhishek Saini and Shreya Bhatia Co-founder Lending Hands foundation"
